Day 240

Eastern Market:

On an afternoon where I wasn't finding inspiration for a good picture actually came one of my favorites thus far!  Its exciting when things happen like that!

I spent the afternoon with a friend at Eastern Market!  We saw lots of beautiful foods and arts and crafts!  And of course ate some delicious pastries.

A New Kind of Dorothy:

Don't actually look like Dorothy's slippers at all but just the angle of them reminded me of that classic!

Day 235

Final One On One:

During our summer working together (2 years ago), K War and I would set time aside each week to not talk about work at all and just be real friends with each other. Most weeks we spent that time at our favorite neighborhood coffee shop.  This summer we had many nights were we just relaxed on our couch and chatted away about anything and everything.  K War left the country for work this past week, so we had one last one on one.  This time we splurged and went to old town to a lovely French restaurant!  This is a picture of us hanging on the streets just outside the restaurant.

Love this girl tons and am soooo incredibly blessed to be able to call her one of my best friends!

Day 231

Coffee Filter Butterflies:

At work today my kiddos made butterflies out of coffee filters! Its actually a really neat craft.  You color a round coffee filter with whatever colors you want, then use pipe cleaners to make the "body", and then put water droplets on the wings to see the colors blend together!  I think I enjoyed it just as much as they did!

Vanessa and Tori came all the way out to the East to visit me!  We had such a great time and were completely exhausted, but it was totally worth it!  We spent the entire weekend seeing the sites and still didn't see everything!

July 8, 2011

Day 214

HAPPY 4th OF JULY:

Rumor had it that if you could see the Washington Monument then you would be able to see the fireworks; so we headed over to Karen's work to watch the show.  The fireworks themselves were spectacular!  In colors that I have never seen before.

Traffic:

DC is known as the city with the worst traffic in the U.S..  I would have to agree with that statement.

This is a picture of traffic on the other side of the road that had been backed up for about 1 mile, while I was passing all them headed in the other direction.
